Ok, it might be a tad early, but we did have our First Meeting last night and it was pretty awesome. We expected a total of four to five people according to quick e-mail exchange we had few days before the event, but there were at least ten people when the event started, and would have been more, if they had known early enough. What’s even more, it wasn’t only about seeing each other’s faces and introducing ourselves: both Jarkko Laine as well as Antti Tarvainen were already able to give us nice presentations. Naturally, after (and in between) the presentations we discussed about organizational things like how often to meet, where, when etc. and what kinds of wishes people have, what do they expect and so on.

The meeting took place in Plevna Mallaskabinetti. The cabinet was decent enough and well equipped (video projector, WLAN and a flap board, markers and pens), but the last part of the meeting, which took place in the restaurant itself, was a bit too noisy for general discussion. So we are seeking another place which would be somewhat more suitable for our purposes.

But perhaps the most important thing was that the idea of our local user group seems like reality at the moment. We already set the date for the next meeting, and there are some exciting presentations to be expected.
